FIVE-STORY RESIDENTIAL BUILDING
Community Development

Winter 2004
The restaurant is located at “Turtle Lake” in Tbilisi. The area is located in the Museum of Ethnography and Folklore, which is a recreational zone and a favorite place of the public. During the Soviet era there was a restaurant integrated with a cable car station and was a popular recreation area for a long time, but after political instability it was abandoned. As a part of the course objectives, I proposed a design that utilizes a modern lightweight steel structure with translucent materials and finishes to further integrate the building into the local environment. The spatial layout of the building borrows some elements from the vernacular architecture.
There is a café on the first floor and a restaurant on the second floor, with a roof top terrace above. All of the floors have a perfect view over the lake and the city.
All drawings are hand-drafted.
