THE SHELTER FOR PHILOSOPHY
In Caucasus Mountains

Winter 2011
The project is a virtual implementation of my dream about a place somewhere in the mountains where everyone could go to share and receive thoughts on philosophy and architecture. Where everyone could be a part of this small city. The school of Philosophy is located in the Caucasus Mountains, in Georgia. It is intended for the people who travel and hike in the mountains and look for a special place to stay and share their knowledge.
These people travel in order to be enlightened, to find themselves through the school, through this architecture, and through the mountains. The spatial organization of the school makes up the unity of the buildings, which are divided by the streets as an idea of a city, an independent city, an isolated city. The buildings are made in concrete because they are to be ascetic. Quotes of the great philosophers are imprinted on the walls at the street level and are seen by travelers.

Sketches and Ideas

Imprints on the Walls

The spatial qualities of the streets evokes the idea of a medieval town

The individual unit is located on progressing hill

The program allocation is very similar to medieval program structure; first floors have more of public/business type programs, on the other hand housing spaces are located on the upper floors

The interior shows the people's marks and imprints who ones stayed here
